Let EnSight be able to add an annotation onto a surface as a texture map
See the attached image. Imagine that the text "U (y,z)" is just a text annotation.

Text file with CRLF on Windows
Some text files, record command and context file and geometric case(gold) file..., are output with LF? So cannot open using simple Windows Notepad.

Calculate avg. residence time required for particle traces released in one surface to reach another. Provide histogram of time distribution.
Create a macro to calculate the mass-averaged residence time required for particle traces released in one user defined plane or surface to reach another user defined plane or surface. Also provide a histogram of the time distribution of the particles as a percentage of total mass flow.

Fix the group part bug when exporting grouped parts from Ensight to Enliten
When grouping parts in Ensight and then exporting them as an Enliten Scenario file the grouped parts do not export properly ("selected part mode").
Typically this occurs when you load a context file (which makes group parts) and then do the export. The workaround is to ungroup the parts, regroup them and finally rename the group. Do this for all your groups and then perform the export = very tedious! Please fix. :-)

Allow Reveal & Enliten to have rotatation centre that the user can change.
Currently Reveal & Enliten use only the centre of transformation that existed when you exported the scenario from Ensight. For many cases it would be extremely useful if Reveal & Enliten would allow the user to select a new rotation centre based on picking a point on a part.

Allow Reveal & Enliten to sort the parts list alphabetically.
Currently the parts list in Reveal & Enliten is all jumbled, which makes naming parts with sensible names a waste of time.
(also can't expand part attributes windows past 25 characters - certainly true in Enliten)

Allow Ensight to export grouped parts to Reveal
Reveal still does not yet allow grouped parts to be exported - you end up with each original part from the group being exported instead. This creates a lot of part clutter. We currently don't use Reveal because of this.

Integrate or launch EnSight from ANSYS Workbench
Give ANSYS users the ability to open a results file in EnSight directly from Workbench.

Powerpoint-like presentation or presenter mode.
Imagine you go to a conference room which has a projector. You want to talk about a model results and show what you've found in EnSight. You hook up your laptop. But on the graphics area of the projector you only want to show the EnSight graphics area, not the whole GUI. EnSight has this technical ability in EnSight DR already. Bring that to the conference room/laptop situation - make sure its as easy as PowerPoint or Keynote.

Export images to a vector graphics format
For saving images which scale better than bitmaps. Useful for large printing and/or reducing file size. I don't know if this is even feasible with EnSight graphics, but I did find an OpenGL to vector graphics library http://geuz.org/gl2ps/ so it must not be too unreasonable.

EnSight should run on Windows 8 Large Touch Screens

Per-part connectivity attribute
Currently the entire case must either be set to static, changing coordinates, or changing connectivity. Even if only some of the parts change. In some situations this makes changing time steps a lot slower than necessary.

Improve context restore when parts or variables don't match
Add a few features to make it easier to apply a context to a different dataset. Some suggestions:
1. if not all the part names match, automatically match the parts that do have identical names
2. allow the selection and assigning of multiple parts
3. if some parts are not assigned do not bring up a bunch of error messages0 votes -
Stereo remains correct regardless of camera view angle
This would solve 2 related issues.
1. If the stereo separation angle is correct, but you change the view angle of a camera, the stereo will not be correct anymore.
2. If you have multiple viewports with different view angles there is no way to make the stereo correct in every viewport simultaneously.1 vote -
Calculate distance in a given direction
This would work like Dist2Part, except the user would specify a direction. The calculator function would only look in that direction when calculating distance, like emitting a ray from each node until it hits the specified part(s). Could be added as an option to Dist2Part and Dist2PartElem.

Add GUI option for isovolume creation method
EnSight can create isovolumes which strictly follow the original mesh, or which create smoother edges similar to an isosurface. This option is controlled with a test: command that must be typed by the user. Move this option into the FED so user can know about it and switch it more easily.

Improve multiple clip creation
When making multiple clip planes at one time. The current defaults set the first clip to the mid-point of the parts, and creates the rest of the clips in one direction, with no useful defaults for spacing.
I suggest some GUI improvements which help the user select spacing between clips. For example the user would input total # of clips desired and EnSight would space them evenly throughout the select parts.

Import CAD data with color, material, and other properties
When EnSight reads CAD data it imports only the geometry using STL format. Make it possible to read other information in the CAD data such as part colors and materials. This could take the form of reading a universal format such as JT, or a different solution. We currently support limited color and texture reading through OBJ format.
